Recipe for
Disaster
STEP ONE: Start with the Federal Reserve Bank printing as much money as they want, as often as they please
(Call it QE3: Quantitative Easing)
STEP TWO: Add record high gas prices (up $0.50 in the last two months)
STEP THREE: Mix with droughts in the Midwest (food shortages) and a dash of economic instability (8+ % unemployment 43 months and counting)
STEP FOUR: Stir in rising international tensions (Middle East, Europe, etc.)
There! We have just created the perfect storm for a
FOOD CRISIS.
QUESTION: Are you prepared?
As you may have already known, September was National Preparedness Month. How did your drills go for home and at work? Did you have any? If not, make OCTOBER your month! Make a plan.
When we say "Disaster Preparation," we aren't talking about the end of the world, a doomsday prophecy, or political rhetoric. It's nothing but good, old-fashioned common sense. After all, you have a spare tire in your car, right? Health insurance? Yes! There's nothing like sleeping peacefully because you're living a lifestyle of READINESS!
Getting prepared is not a hard thing to do. A little bit of advanced planning goes a long way in any situation. The basic steps for preparing are as follows:
- Be Informed: Learn about what types of situations could effect your life, and learn how to prepare for them. For information, check out FEMA's ready.gov site. For long-life food storage, check out GoFoods.com.
- Store Clean Water: Store a minimum of 1 gallon of water per person, per day, for a three-day period.
- Build a Kit: Put together an emergency preparedness kit – a Bug-Out Bag - for each member of your family. Don't forget one for each pet! You do NOT have to go broke on these. You can get an amazing amount of stuff at Dollar Stores and Walmart camping section. A little here, a little there.
- Make a Plan: Agree upon a meeting place outside your home, and set up an out-of-state check-in contact for your family. Plan for temporary shelter, camping gear is ideal for this.
For thorough preparation, remember the acronym “FEPS.” This stands for Financial, Emotional, Physical and Spiritual preparation. How do YOU rate in each category on a scale of 1 to 10?
For assistance with any part of FEPS, just ask! I will be happy to help! Write me, Michael, at miketummillo@me.com and write "HELP" in your Subject Bar.
Every blessing,
Michael
